Candid vs Posed: Portraits of Family and Friends
Elements we focused on: Portraits (human subjects, posed or candid)
I chose to take my posed pictures of my dad because he's the most willing of my family to go along with my directions for posing. I love the eccentricity of the glasses, and feel they showcase some of my dad's personality nicely.
To optimize the photo, I followed these steps: reduced the brightness, increased the saturation, desaturated image, hand-tinted the glasses back into color, and then burned the rest of the subject's body.'
This assignment taught me to stay on my feet when shooting; for candids, you never know when you'll have the opportunity for the perfect shot.
