Abstracts in Architecture
Elements we focused on: Pictures of architecture where the colors, textures, shapes, or other such elements are more important than the actual subject(s)
When looking at local architecture, what's more abstract than the Museum of Pop Culture? I decided its reflective, multicolored building would be perfect for this assignment because the panels themselves are nothing compared to the colorful things they reflect.
To optimize the first photo below, I followed my standard procedure at first: fixed the levels, and adjusted saturation, hue, brightness, contrast, and lightness. The I burned the area on the right that's entirely sky and used the spot healing brush to remove an overly-noticeable streak on the rightmost panel.
This assignment taught me how to effectively capture reflections, as well as how color and texture can be so central in a photo that the actual subject is practically irrelevant.
