Abstracts in Nature
Elements we focused on: Pictures of nature where the colors, textures, shapes, or other such elements are more important than the actual subject(s)
All of these photos are of plants from around my house, both because it was a convenient location and because I wanted to see how many unique patterns I could find in a relatively restricted space.
My personal favorites are the hue-changed branches at the bottom of the page; to optimize them, I fixed the levels, adjusted the hue/saturation/brightness/contrast, burned areas where the white was distractingly bright, and then changed the hue until it looked both gorgeous and (mostly) realistic.
I learned about the abundance of patterns and textures that can be found in nature, and how to capture them in ways that are new and interesting to the viewer.
